My hair care routine is not something I am very invested in. However, that doesn’t mean I have to live with hair loss or damaged hair. I just love simple, yet effective ways to fix my hair. One month ago, a close friend suggested that I try betel leaves (paan-ka patta), for my hair. It was something I was initially unsure of, but I decided to give it a shot. We all know the benefits of paan leaves so I decided to give it a try. Although you may not believe it but my hair actually changed.

Because they are heart-shaped, these leaves are used in pujas to promote prosperity and freshness. It is rich in therapeutic and other essential vitamins and minerals according to Ayurveda. These include potassium, nicotinic Acid, vitamin A, vitamin A, Vitamin C, vitamin A2, vitamin B2, vitamin B2, vitamin B2, and vitamin A1.

How to use betel leaves as hair care?

There is a twist to my homemade betel leaf hair mask. To condition my hair and reduce frizziness, I added one tablespoon of ghee.

Ghee is rich in vitamin A, fatty acids and can be:

* Deeply moisturize the scalp and hair
* Relieve scalp irritation
* Increase the shine of your hair
* Prevent split ends

This is how to make this hair mask using betel leaves and butter.

Ingredients:

5-10 betel leaves (you could add more depending on your hair length).
2-3 tablespoons of ghee
One tablespoon honey
Water

The solution to your dull hair is right in your kitchen! 

Here are the steps to prepare and apply the betel leaf and ghee hairmask

Step 1: Place betel leaves or paan leaves in a blender. Add water to make a paste.
Step 2: Add honey and ghee to the paste, then transfer it to a bowl.
Step 3: Stir well until the paste is thick.
Step 4: Use your fingers or a hair color brush to apply the mixture on your scalp.
Step 5: Massage your roots for about 4-5 minutes.
Step 6: Now leave it for a half hour.
Step 7: After a half-hour has passed, rinse your hair with warm water and use mild shampoo and conditioner.

This is what I felt after applying this hair mask.

This paan leaves and Ghee hair mask make my hair shiny and smooth. It has been used at least twice to three times per week. Guess what? This isn’t a temporary result. The difference has been noticeable in my hair.

My hair ends are not as dry and my tangles are less. My hair looks healthier and more nourished. They are also growing well. You have to try it. You’ll be able to give up all your expensive hair products!
